Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan
South Division South Patrol Division is a popular area experiencing significant residential growth and business development. The Division boundaries are Berry Street to the north, Wichita Street to the east, the city limit line to the south, and Granbury Road to the west. The strategic location and ease of accessibility in this area enhances opportunities in South Division to engage in community involvement, so it has been the home of some of the most dedicated and involved civic groups in the city. Sections in this Division include Patrol Operations, Community Operations, NPOs, and Criminal Investigations The opening of Chisolm Trail Parkway facilitated significant growth in this division, enabling commuter’s quick north/south accessibility. As expansion plans for Tarleton State University materialize, and retail and business development closely follow, South Division represents one of the fastest
growing areas in Fort Worth. One of South Divisions projected concerns is the need to replace outdated facilities. South Patrol Operations deploy from two facilities: 3128 W. Bolt Street and 7650 McCart Avenue (a small lease space not well suited for Patrol Operations). A divisional goal is to consolidate both facilities into a singular location that can accommodate all officers and provide a walk in desk for citizens within the Division. Future growth trends indicate that as far southwest portions of the Division continue their substantial growth it will likely require the construction of a new Far South Division within the next 5-10 years. Although this extends beyond the 5-year strategic plan, the Department has to begin to prepare within the duration of this plan for a sizeable capital investment that will likely become the Eighth (8 th ) Patrol Division.
