The Digital Forensics Lab conducts the forensic examination of all seized computers, media, cell phones, tablets, and/or other devices retained in criminal or administrative cases that may contain digital or electronic evidence. In 2016, the Digital Forensics Lab supervisor earned an appointment to the National Institute of Standards and Technology National Commission, which is the accrediting body that sets standards for the collection and preservation of electronic evidence.

FWPD will host industry training on cargo theft, heavy equipment theft, and commercial vehicle specialties. Annually evaluate the need for additional Crime Scene personnel based on call load and advances in evidence collection techniques.
