Southern Police Institute
12 Weeks
$12,000 per session
Two sessions are held each year. Maximum expenditure of $12,500 per year for two attendees excluding per diem for food.
FBI National Academy
10 Weeks
$1,500 per session
The FBI covers most meals, lodging and reimburses travel. Fort Worth is currently allowed to attend two sessions per year for a maximum for $3,000 for two attendees excluding per diem for food. $10,000 Course offered twice per year. A four-year degree is required for acceptance. Maximum annual cost for two attendees is $20,000 excluding per diem. Th i s wi l l be rotated with SPI or offered every other year to one applicant to offset the expense. Note* The count of sworn ranks reflects positions filled and not necessarily authorized strength. Many officers in the rank of corporal and above have completed some of the basic training such as SCAN and Reid. Beyond TCOLE certification levels and mandatory classes, the academy staff will report, but generally does not track individual officer courses that may be offered by outside training providers.
