Previous Population Growth Figure 2.3 below illustrates high growth areas in Fort Worth since 2000 using darker colors. The majority of growth is on the outer edges of the city. Since 2000, Fort Worth added approximately 135,000 residents and 39 square miles to the area north of Loop 820. This growth presents a challenge to policing, as the FWPD must align resources to meet this and other urgent demands for public safety services. Figure 2.3. Previous Population Growth 2000 – 2016
