The panther emblem has historical meaning for the City; in 1876 the nickname for Fort Worth became ‘Panther City’. The panther has been part of the police department badge since 1912.

Prioritization Exercise

Prioritization exercises were subsequently used to determine the major priorities FWPD should focus on in the next five years. Based on the prioritization exercise, the following four strategic Plan Directions emerged: 1) Professionalism and Organizational Excellence 2) Community Engagement and Partnerships 3) Operational Improvements, and 4) Technology Development and Infrastructure Expansion. The final committee exercises consisted of critiquing the goals and action items that were created from focus group discussions about each strategic direction.
