For comparison purposes Figure 3.10 shows detective staffing levels from other cities. Each agency organizes their detective units differently, but based on data provided by the departments, many of the FWPD investigative units have less personnel than similarly sized cities.

Totals include detectives and sergeants assigned to each unit based on data provided by each agency . Note: El Paso - 19 detectives and 3 sergeants to investigate crimes against persons. San Antonio - 45 detectives handle sexual assaults and domestic violence, while child cases are investigated by other units depending on the offense type. Houston - 111 detectives investigate sexual assault, child crimes and domestic violence.
