Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan
Residential and Commercial Development Growth Fort Worth has experienced considerable growth and development activity over the last five years. Between 2012 and 2016, the Planning and Development Department processed 41,827 single-family residential building permits with a construction value of approximately 3.1 billion and 11,584 commercial building permits with a construction value of approximately 6.5 billion. The maps below show the location and the intensity of issued permits between 2012 and 2016. Growth continues to be strong in north Fort Worth supporting the creation of a Sixth Patrol Division and patrol facility north of Loop 820, which is expected to open in Spring 2018. Other areas of significant growth of residential permits are in south Fort Worth between the Chisholm Trail Parkway and I-35 as well as west Fort Worth outside of Loop 820 as shown in green in the map below. The purple areas show the strongest intensity of commercial permits in north and central Fort Worth with more growth beginning to occur along Chisholm Trail Parkway. Additionally, significant institutional, business, and residential developments are planned along Chisholm Trail Parkway in south Fort Worth. FWPD must prepare for the continued rapid growth by planning for additional patrol facilities in south and west Fort Worth.
