Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

As of part of the process of researching viable relocation options, in January 2016, the Property Management Department and Police Department toured several sites within Central Patrol Division. Their hope was to evaluate each location and find a potential site that could accommodate a consolidated facility that could incorporate staff from 350 West Belknap, as well as the Central Patrol Division (Jones St. and Hemphill St. leased facilities), before both leases expire in 2018 and 2020 respectively. In addition to private options, staff members analyzed the feasibility of leveraging existing city facilities/projects to accommodate some, if not all functions, in both locations. Another part of this process was a detailed analysis conducted by the same research groups that identified options for the relocation of the remaining user groups so that the sale of 350 W. Belknap might proceed uninterrupted. The study proposed facility options for each user group, including options like square footage needs by user group, spacing planning of each facility options, number of work stations/offices required for operations, estimated renovation cost, notes about specialized needs of each user group, etc. The ultimate goal of the study was to provide further options so that the City could determine the preferred direction, funding source of each project, timeline for renovation completion, and design a time bound relocation schedule. After a litany of analysis and discussion, it was determined that several of the proposed options were viable to move the project forward. The figure below shows those determined feasible to proceed forward:
