Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

Funded – Renovation of Tactical Command Center

Upon conveyance to the City of Fort Worth, in 2014, the FWPD Tactical Center moved into the former KXAS/NBC 5 facility. This location provided a well- constructed, mostly concrete edifice, on a location that is ideal for tactical and analytical activities and functions. The relocation of several previous occupants enabled the termination of a preexisting lease, allowing FWPD to apply the savings incurred from its purchase to support renovation costs.

Further conversion of office space and other reconfigurations are necessary for full operations including significant electrical, plumbing, and mechanical improvements. These critical upgrades are necessary, since the facility lacks adequate phone or (black fiber) network infrastructure. The roof and HVAC equipment components of this facility were not in the initial project budget, but the City’s Property Management Department is funding those improvements. New Police Heliport—Funded by the Crime Control and Prevention District The new Heliport, funded by the Crime Control and Prevention District, is located at Meacham International Airport and has the ability to house multiple aircrafts. It replaced a dilapidated facility located at 1400 Nixon Street; which opened in 1973 and had structural integrity issues. The new Heliport represented a major advancement for Police Air Operations in our City, from facility modernization to efficiency improvement, and created a base of operations for Tactical-Medical staff. West Patrol Division (Marquita)

A storm in March 2016 destroyed the West Division Marquita facility, and almost created the need for the full relocation of the facility due to extensive roof and water damage. FWPD renovated the facility, and completed all repair work in August 2016. Mounted Patrol Equestrian Facility The new facility in west side of Fort Worth opened in 2014 and replaced an outdated and outgrown facility in the Stockyards. Funded by a citizen support group, the facility is set on approximately ten acres and contains an administration building, a large barn with stalls and attached runs to accommodate up to 24 horses, indoor and outdoor training areas, equipment, and various supply storage areas.
