Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

Cameras - Recent Accomplishments  Milestone Mobile: The implementation of Milestone Mobile provides personnel with instant access to video from a smartphone or tablet, and enhances time related efficiency. Utilizing the “Push” feature allows a user to share live video from a scene with other personnel. The Milestone Program allows officers to transmit and store information securely on the recording server, making it accessible for evidentiary purposes.

 Interview Room Video System : An audit of interview rooms-camera systems revealed that FWPD used aged, inadequate, and disparate equipment throughout its facilities. On occasion, video from an interview was unusable, due to poor recording quality and extremely low frame rate. The FWPD Technology Committee worked with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office to conduct research and test the latest video technology and eventually selected a new solution, Avigilon, based on recommendations and standards recently created by the Department of Justice. Avigilon incorporates two cameras per room and meets requirements for preset recommendations on frame rate per second. This purchase allowed for the standardization of configuration and equipment used to capture video evidence. It also provides a single solution for detectives to access interview videos irrespective of interview location. The improvement in video quality now meets DOJ recommendations of 30 frames per second and high-definition video.
