Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

 Police Information Portal: Information once perceived as overwhelming has transformed into invaluable data that is critical to preventive and investigative effectiveness for many officers. A person’s history and known associates, prior addresses, prior contact history, and other relevant indicators have proven value to front-line officers and investigators. In a simple search interface, police users have access to persons, addresses, phone numbers, vehicles, narratives, property, and scars, marks, and tattoos data. The Police Information Portal also provides tools for personnel to share information, such as extra patrol requests, be on the lookouts (BOLO’s), and offer the opportunity for users to “subscribe” to a person, address, or vehicle license plate, to receive notifications via email whenever the police system receives a new record that matches those parameters.  School Emergency Operation Plans: FWPD’s Technology Services Section worked with School Resource Officers and developed a “School Emergency Operation Plans” tool, which is available on the department’s “Police Enterprise Portal.” If a major incident occurs at one of our schools, responders have access to contact information, floor plans, pictures, and response plans for each school.

 N-DEx: In June 2016, the FWPD Technology Services Section worked with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and their Texas Data Exchange (T-DEx) vendor, to incorporate additional data within the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Data Exchange (N-DEx) system at no charge to FWPD. The FWPDwas the first agency in Texas to incorporate this additional data, which includes the report narrative, involved property, all involved persons, vehicles and expanded arrest data. Access to Data (Transparency/Public) – Recent Accomplishments  Social Media: The FWPD has embraced social media and has a follower base of over 207,000 users between Facebook and Twitter. o Facebook Live o The episode was a live stream of a community forum and received 5,393 viewers and a total of 5,745 views  The most watched Facebook Live stream was of Officer Matt Pearce’s release from the hospital on May 10, 2016. o 75,352 viewers and a total of 79,398 views  The 1 st “episode” of Facebook Live streamed on May 5, 2016.
