Fort Worth Police Department Strategic Plan

FWPD uses Facebook Live a minimum of once a week, in particular on “Webcast Wednesday,” an episodic program that details upcoming police department events and interesting stories on the department and officers in real time. These live broadcasts allows viewers to see what the department is doing, no matter where they are. The benefit of an active presence on Facebook Live is that it allows viewers to attend virtually via cell phone, laptop, or other mobile device, to hear important community information with the touch of a screen. Our first four live-streamed community events reached over 36,721 viewers. Viewership of the fourth event doubled from the first event from 5,745 to 10,835 virtual attendees.

 Public Safety Media Portal: There is a variety of ways establish and build community trust, but the primary method in FWPD is promoting transparency and facilitating open communication with the public and media. The FWPD Technology Services Section worked with our Public Relations Office PRO Team and Public Information Office (PIO), to develop the Public Safety Media Portal. This web-based application provides local and national media with secure access to active police and fire calls, recent arrests, offender mugshots, offense reports, and press releases.  OneAddress : Another accomplishment of the FWPD Technology Services Section and City IT Solutions has been to provide citizens relevant data through the OneAddress web application. This portal provides residents and businesses the ability to search information regarding police facilities, NPOs, trash days, permits, crime, and other city services in/around their home or businesses.
