Open Data: FWPD worked with the IT Solutions Department and the City Open Data Governance Committee to provide crime data on the City Open Data portal. The “Maps and Apps” section displays data on a citywide map that allows users to pan around the city, zoom into specific locations, and click on icons to view information on specific crimes. The Data Categories section allows users to view crime offenses in list form and to filter various columns of related crime information. Omega CrimeView Dashboard: The Omega CrimeView Dashboard has already proven to be a valuable resource for officers and command staff. Identifying additional datasets to incorporate on the dashboard will further allow staff to make data driven decisions, enabling the efficient use of resources. The FWPD Technology Services Section will continue training existing and new officers to utilize the system. Access to Data (Transparency/Public) – Future Projects Public Service Kiosks : Kiosks will allow citizens to obtain copies of police offense reports and other police services without the need to visit the Records Division. The department plans to place Kiosks at strategic locations in various police department and city facilities. In FY17 FWPD designated $42,000 from Asset Forfeiture for seven kiosks. Open Data: FWPD will continue to work with the IT Solutions Department and Open Data Governance Committee to incorporate additional police data on the Open Data portal. This information includes data relating to accident calls, calls for service, and more, which directly supports our efforts at transparency.

The PD’s Website Working Group will continue regular meetings and work with developers to provide expanded and improved capabilities so that our site serves as a dynamic, user-friendly, and transparent tool. In August 2016, the department added links to General Orders on the website.
