asked. “ Yes, I will,” he answered and, wiping the dishwater from his hands, he gripped ours with a grip that showed determination and faith. After show ing him how to appreciate the blessings that were his, that he might grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, we separated, both re joicing in Jesus Christ our Saviour. Boarding another ship, we found a man in one of the bunk rooms who was a believer, but having a struggle. The Word of God soon solved the difficulty and showed him the way of victory. When we separated, faith had been strengthened, friendships made and Jesus Christ had been glorified. Oh, friends, our vocabulary is too limited to impress upon you the need of prayer for the worker. Pray that he may have wisdom, tact and love, that these men may be reached for the Lord Jesus Christ. BIOLA CLUB, PASADENA Elwood P. UR work at the harbor ter minates with this report and we thank you for your prayers which have been a source of •strength for a service which has been most.blessed. We hope you will continue to remember the work and the new Superintendent. Perhaps many friends of the Department do not know that we have been doing this work while continuing our course an the Los Angeles Bible Institute. God’s blessing is manifested in the fact that we are able to make the following re port after visiting 83 ships: 49 Testa ments, 2,079 Gospels, 426 pamphlets and Scripture calendars, 284 Moody Colportage Books, and 8,880 tracts were distributed in four months. 198 men were dealt with personally and 45 made definite, clear-cut decisions for Christ. During this time 5,000 men heard of the Saviour by lip or page. Haven’t we a splendid reason to give thanks? Up Against a Free-Thinker. The other day we were on board a ship from, Mexico. Both officers and crew were hungry for the Word. One man we approached, asked, “What is it, Protestant or Catholic?” “ Christian,’ we answered. “ Could we give you a Bible and a nice Scripture calendar? we have both Spanish and English.” ‘ I am a free thinker,” he said. We knew by this that he was tired of Roman Catholicism and its idolatry, and also that he was not a Christian, so we said, .“ It doesn’t matter whether we are free thinkers or no thinkers at all, Spanish or English, Mexican or American, nich or poor, we are just sinners, hell-deserv- ting Biliners. We have a nature that likes to lie, likes to steal and likes to swear, and are on the road to hell. “ That’s right,” he said. Our answer was, “ Well, friend, God has provided a way whereby we can meet Him, free and forgiven.” We opened a Gospel of John and let him read God’s Word, ex plaining to him the way of salvation. . “ Will you take this Jesus of the Bible to be your Saviour and surrender your life to Him right here and now?” we
