we present Jesus to them^as their Mes siah. The problem presented here, and so frequently puzzling, is solved by remem bering that “ Joseph, according to Mat thew, was "the son of Jacob. Accord ing to Luke, the son of Heli. He could not be the actual son of both. He was the actual son of Jacob. He was there fore the son-in-law of Heli as he mar ried Mary. Mary was the daughter of Heli. Heli carried his line up through Nathan to David. He was thus a prince of the house of David. His daughter, Mary, was a princess of the house of David. Her son, Jesus, was a prince of the house of David and heir of the throne of David. David’s line came down through Solomon as far as Coniah. Because of his failure as king of Judah, God commanded that they write him childless, and transferred the right to sit upon the throne to the line of Nathan. This line came to Joseph. He was a descendant of Uoniah, but had no night to sit upon the throne. When he married Mary, and in the law became father of her child, his title passed over to her son, and thus Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord, became the heir of David’s throne by right of birth on his mother’s side, and by transfer of title from his legal father’s side.” The sevenfold gift of the Spirit is given Him. (Rev. 1:4) “Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne.” The Spirit was to rest permanently upon Him (John 1:32, 33) “And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not; but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.” There are three pairs of graces: Wisdom and Understanding: The ability to perceive and understand truth (John 14:17) . “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him

referred to here have to do with Israel, and the Kingdom Age, and must not he confused with the “ last days” of this Church Age, which are characterized in the epistles as an age of apostasy. Christ’s reign in Jerusalem is to be a glorious reign, and “ the mountain” re fers to the preeminence of His reign over all kingdoms. From His throne ■in the earthly city the edicts will go forth, and all nations will be compelled to obey. Israel will have passed through a purging process during the tribulation period, and now they will become the missionary people, and the message will be given world-wide to all peoples. ' The long-looked for era of peace will have come, and implements of warfare will be scrapped, implements of in dustry will take their place, and a peace promulgated and perpetuated by the Prince of Peace will^he established. (2) THE COMING OF THE KING; 11 : 1 , 2 . Here is a prophecy concerning our Lord who .is to be King over Israel during the millennial age, and who is to reign in person. He is descended from Jesse, the father of David. The figure used is that of a shoot or tender twig growing out of the stump of an old tree which had been cut down, which is to grow into a fruitful branch (Acts 13:22, 23) “And when he had removed him (Saul) he raised up unto them David to be their king» to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will. Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus.” (Rom. 15:12) ' “And again Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.” Isa. 4:2 - says: “In that day shall the Branch be beautiful and glorious.” Remember that Isaiah presents the Messiah as a suffering sacrifice and also as a glorious King, and this fact puz zled the Jews for they could not recon cile these two pictures. This same dif ficulty confronts the Jews today when
