truth toward the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.” (Psa. 72:19) “And blessed be his glorious name for ever; and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen and Amen.” PRACTICAL POINTS (1) A key to the lesson: Let us walk in the light of the Lord. (2) For the execution of His pur poses concerning His earthly people, God has chosen Jerusalem. (3) Not until the Prince of Peace reigns in Jerusalem will permanent peace -be possible. (4) The Rod from the root df Jesse will rule in righteousness. (5) The Lamb of God becomes the Lion of the tribe of Judah. (6) The sevenfold Spirit of God will be manifest in Messiah’s reign. (7) The cure for earth’s curse will be the coming of the King. (8) The glory of the Lord will be manifested in the gracious reign of a glorious King. Probably those who assigned the title of this lesson meant by it “Making the world Christian” in this dispensation and took the passage iron; Isaiah as referring to the COMMENTS FROM triumphs of the MANY SOURCES Gospel. However, Keith L. Brooks the passage does not apply to this age but describes the earth as it shall be after the second coming of Christ in connection with His millennial reign.— Torrey. v. 1. There shall come forth. This chapter is a prophetic picture of the glory of the future kingdom. It is to be set up when Christ returns in glory (Lk. 1:31, 32; Acts 15:15, 16).—Sco field. Rod out of the stem of Jesse. The figure is of a tree cut down and a new sprout coming out of it which shall become a tree. Jesse was the father of David, and the family, as far as its outward manifestation is con cerned, was cut down and was no longer a stately tree, but by the birth ofJesus of the Virgin Mary, who was a lineal descendant of David, a new shoot sprang out of this trunk and thus a branch came out of his roots, and this branch

He will play no favorites. Poor and rich will have equity. He will be, girded with righteousness and faithful ness. (2 Cor. 6:7) - "By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.” The “ slaying of the wicked” no doubt refers to the antichrist (2 Thess. 2:8) “And then shall that Wicked be re vealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his month, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.” (4) CHANGES JN WORLD CONDI TIONS, vs. 6-10. This passage gives us a bird’s-eye view of the change wrought in the material earth and in all of the animal kingdom. The cufse upon the earth came through man’s sin. God said to Adam, “ Cursed is the ground for thy sake” (Gen. 3:17), and the curse will not be remioved until the King (the second Adam) takes the sceptre lost by Adam through the sin of Eve (Zech. 14: 9) "And the Lord shall be king over all the earth; in that day shall there be one Lord and his name one.” (Psa. 98:2, 3) "The Lord hath made known his salva tion ; his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
