CIPP Payroll: need to know 2018-2019

As announced recently the Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018 is due to come into force in 2020 and creates a statutory right to time off work for employed parents, with pay where eligibility requirements are met, following the loss of a child.

Many of the details are still unknown and we are waiting for the government to respond to the consultation which was published in April 2018.

This short webcast takes you through the areas that are yet to be set in regulation and which draft guidance will need to include to provide reassurance to parents and to provide employers with the details required to implement this new statutory right into their policies and procedures.

Full Payment Submission (FPS) email issue 4 October 2018

One of our members has alerted us to a problem with the FPS and confirmation from HMRC via email.

At the end of last month the member ran a supplementary payrun and when he submitted the FPS he received the usual email confirmation from the Government Gateway; however for some reason could not print it nor forward it using Outlook (Outlook would just crash). This happened for two PAYE references that had a supplementary run.

The member logged a call with HMRC’s Online Services helpdesk and they confirmed that there was a temporary issue with their emails and Outlook that had now been resolved.

The crux of the matter is that if someone has received a FPS confirmation email that they cannot forward or print on Outlook then the only way to get a paper copy, if one is required, is to take a screenshot.

With thanks to CIPP member Paul Hughes for letting us know about this issue.

Who takes statutory leave in your company? 12 October 2018

With many commentators suggesting that Shared Parental Leave could be discriminatory, the CIPP Policy team would like to find out who exactly is taking Shared Parental Leave.

We would also like to take this further by establishing who takes all the different types of statutory leave.

We have created a short survey which should take no more than five minutes to complete once you have accessed your payroll system to obtain the information required.

We would be very grateful if you could spare these few minutes to complete this survey which closes on 30 September 2018.

Thank you in advance for your time and input
