Town Hall Connects Residents to Critical Resources This year, I hosted a Housing Town Hall focused on addressing the economic hardships many families are facing. The event connected residents with valuable resources, including housing assistance, childcare support, financial assistance programs, employment services, veteran resources, and other community-based support programs. Thank you to the organizations and partners who participated and helped provide support to our community. Recognized as a 2026 Home Rule Hero I was honored to be recognized by the Florida League of Cities as a 2026 Home Rule Hero. This award of distinction is given to elected officials who actively advocate for local decision-making authority and cities to govern based on the needs of their residents. As the 2nd Vice President of the National League of Cities Women in Municipal Government, I proudly represented the City of Sunrise advocating for funding opportunities, appropriations, and resources that directly benefit our residents. Standing Together to Keep Bair Open I was proud to stand alongside the Bair Middle School PTO, School Board Member Dr. Jeff Holness, the Broward Teachers Union, Assistant Deputy Mayor Latoya Clarke, community leaders, parents, and my colleagues in support of the effort to “Keep Bair Open.” Strong public schools are vital to the success of our students and neighborhoods. I remain committed to educational opportunities that best serve our families and ensuring every child has access to a quality education close to home. Wishing all students a successful and rewarding school year ahead. Supporting Autism Hero Project’s Blue Envelope Program I am proud to share the City of Sunrise Police Department has partnered with the Autism Hero Project’s Blue Envelope Program. This initiative helps law enforcement recognize drivers with autism and other communication challenges

Expanded Emergency Care Coming to Sunrise I am excited to welcome the new Broward Health and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Freestanding Emergency Department to our city. This state-of-the-art facility provides 24/7 emergency care for both adults and children, bringing lifesaving services closer to home for Sunrise residents. Serving a community of more than 100,000 residents, this investment represents a major step forward in strengthening healthcare access and ensuring families receive the care they need when every minute counts. Celebrating Caribbean American Heritage I am deeply honored to have been recognized as a 2026 honoree at the 12th Annual Unique Caribbean American Heritage Awards. As a proud Puerto Rican, this recognition holds special meaning to me. Our Caribbean culture is rich in history, resilience, and contributions that have helped shape communities throughout our nation. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the Caribbean community across our city and celebrate the diversity that makes Sunrise such a vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family. An Army Mom’s Pride This June marked a major milestone for our family as my son, Jose, graduated from Piper High School and, just a few weeks later, began his journey serving in the United States Army. As a mother, watching my firstborn take this next step fills me with immense pride. I am honored to now be an Army mom and pray daily for Jose’s safety, as well as for all the brave men and women serving our nation and the families who support them. We thank all who
serve and sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
