Celebrating Sunrise, Community, and America 250 As Sunrise joins communities across the nation in celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States, this milestone offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on civic pride, shared values, and the future we are building together. I remain deeply grateful for the trust and confidence the residents of Sunrise placed in me as one of your elected City Commissioners. Since taking office, I have remained guided by three core principles: following a clear vision for our city, serving with integrity, and delivering results. Those principles continue to shape my work each day as I collaborate with residents, neighborhoods, business leaders, City staff, stakeholders, and my fellow Commissioners to make Sunrise an even better place to live, work, learn, play, shop, and dine. Planning for Today While Investing in Tomorrow As families continue to navigate the pressures of the economy, inflation, property taxes, and rising service costs, I want residents to know that responsible stewardship of public funds remains one of my highest priorities. As a fiduciary of taxpayer dollars, I am committed to supporting a structurally balanced budget, maintaining the high-quality programs and services our community depends on, and continuing to invest in the infrastructure improvements that will strengthen Sunrise for years to come. A Summer of Celebration and Community America’s 250th birthday celebration also brings exciting opportunities for the community to come together. I hope to see many of you at the City’s Fourth of July parade, as well as at the concert and fireworks spectacular at Amerant Bank Arena. These events are a wonderful reminder of the spirit, energy, and togetherness that define Sunrise. Summer is also the perfect time to enjoy the many amenities our City has to offer. At the heart of original Sunrise, Village Art Plaza continues to grow as a vibrant gathering place where art, culture, and community come together. From live
music and local finds to public art and dining, it is a destination that reflects the creativity and character of our City. Residents can also experience the City’s Art Gallery, featuring traveling exhibits and the work of talented local artists, or enjoy affordable, family-friendly entertainment at the Civic Center Theatre, where theatrical productions, musical performances, and children’s programming help bring the arts to life. Something for Everyone in Sunrise For those who enjoy recreation and fitness, Sunrise offers something for every age and interest. Residents can spend time at the Tennis Club, play a round at The Bridges at Springtree Golf Club, or cool off at the Sunrise Civic Center Aquatic Complex, Welleby Pool, Village Beach Club, Roarke Pool, or one of the splash pads in our beautiful parks. The Athletic Club at the Sunrise Civic Center, along with the multipurpose centers at the Sunrise Athletic Complex and Village, provide additional opportunities for basketball, pickleball, fitness classes, and other recreational programs. Many of these amenities are available at no cost to Sunrise residents, helping promote health, wellness, and connection throughout the community. Our senior residents also enjoy a wide range of opportunities through the Sunrise Senior Center, which offers classes, trips, support groups, dances, games, arts and crafts, and wellness programming designed to foster both enrichment and community. A City That Rises Above the Rest Sunrise truly offers something for everyone, and I look forward to seeing residents and families enjoying all that our city has to offer this summer. Together, we continue to build a community defined by opportunity,
connection, and pride. Sunrise is, indeed, the city that rises above the rest.
