fo r cu tting off a living member should rest w ith the organization n o t th e individual.’! T hat leaves th e m atter squarely up to you, Mr. and Mrs. Churchmember! As th e editor of the L u theran Survey says: "Loyalty to tru th necessarily involves intolerance of error. A church dare not claim infallibility, bu t it must claim definite and positive conviction. A church d are not practice coercion, by suppression or otherwise, bu t it must demand definite confession of w h at men honestly believe, and must require agreement in confession as a condition to membership. In th is it has inheren t au tho rity of which its very life requires strict exercise.’’

THINGS TOO GOOD FOB THE WASTE BASKET A m other in Montana said in a recent le tte r to The K ing’s Business: "The K ing’s Business arrived two days ago and, like gluttons, my husband and I have already devoured it and m ust now w ait for something else. The mail reaches our house by the hands of school children, ju st as I, th e ir mother, am in the m idst of preparing supper, and th e day your magazine arrives th e supper is in danger of burning while I glance through th e magazine, never in tending to do more th an find out what th ere is in store for me.” A T rial is All T h at’s Needed Someone sent th is lady in Tennessee a tria l subscription to The K ing’s Busi ness, and th is is w hat she now w rites: "So splendid have I found it th a t I am now, in tu rn , sending you a subscrip tion for a dear friend of mine. The K ing’s Business is a most excellent magazine. It strengthens my faith ; it com forts me; it inform s me; it teaches me; it makes me rejoice in Him; it helps me In my Bible study." Dismissed fo r Teaching th e Bible From many parts of th e country let ters sim ilar to th is one from Pennsyl vania come to us. “ I was teaching th e ladies’ Bible class in our church when the superin tenden t requested me to discontinue teaching because I hold to th e funda mentals, which he claims can no longer be tau g h t in these days of enllghten-

ment. I th ank God th a t He has now led me into a praying band of people who are doing a mission work and I am seeing souls won for Christ. I w ant to th a n k The K ing’s Business for what it has done for me. It has helped me to stand firm for th e tru th and given me courage which I would not have had otherw ise.” W hat M issionaries Say We wish we could p rin t many of th e letters received from m issionaries who get th e magazine through our m ission ary fund. The following is from Af rica: “ I have not ceased to wonder a t th e unerring Hand th a t has directed your thoughts to me h ere in th is hinterland. I can assure you th a t it is God’s provi dence employing your service to help me in His work here. The substance of the magazine as a whole brings me on my knees w ith thanksgiving and causes me to feel more fit for th e Mas te r’s work.” PBAY IN EVERYTHING Dr. Bonar, who labored in Scotland a generation ago and who kept a priv ate diary or jou rnal for a goodly p art of his life, emphasizes th erein a great tru th when he says, “ I see th a t unless I keep up sho rt prayer every day, th roughout th e whole day I lose th e sp irit of prayer.” The only way we can keep in the sp irit of prayer is to "P ray w ithout ceasing.”
