Everybody knows at least one train song. And everybody loves model trains, building them, running them around the track, or watching an expert modeller pull a long-haul line of cars with an engine along an HO-scale track. This weekend, train fans will get more than their fill of fun at the Canadian International Hockey Academy when the Ottawa Train Expo rolls in and sets up for a two-day festival of everything to do with trains, April 25 and 26. Sponsored through the Giant Tiger department and grocery store franchise, the Ottawa Senators Foundation, and the Rogers House Foundation, the Train Expo will feature more than 100 vendors of model train equipment, train history and culture, and other items and objects of interest. There will be displays, track layouts, demonstrations of model railroading, and information clinics for everyone to take in. Children will love the Thomas the Tank Engine branch line and the Lego train displays. The weekend exhibition will also help the Rogers House Foundation’s shelter program at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Every admission ticket bought for the Train Expo will see $2 from the admission price go to Roger’s House to help provide “a home away from home” for children staying at CHEO because of severe or terminal illnesses. – Gregg Chamberlain

They danced like there was no one and nothing else in the world but themselves. The students of the Extrava Danse Academy celebrated the end of another season of training and also did some fundraising for their competitive team.
