stéphane.lajoie@eap.on.ca Once again, the Faimfino Restaurant in Brownsburg-Chatham is hosting on its walls the monthly art exhibit of the So- ciété culturelle du Pavillon des Jardins. This time, the Society found a gem on the other side of the border but with deep roots in B-Burg. “I came here for supper one night and noticed all the artwork on the walls,” says artist Sylvie Modérie, a Brownsburg native who now lives in Alfred. “Then I found out that one of the owners was a former class- mate here in Brownsburg so I inquired about the exhibit and here I am.” Sylvie Modérie is known in Prescott-Russell for her involvement in the ARTour, an art cir- cuit similar to the Route des arts, where visitors can take the opportunity to meet the artists in their own creative environ- ment and to explore different forms of art. “I met a lot of wonderful people this year during the tour and many complimented me on the diversity of my art,” she says. “I don’t limit myself to one type of paint- ing or one style since I want to explore and play with the painting. So I wanted to bring that diversity, that variety here at the Faimfino. If something catches my eye while I’m driving or walking, I want to paint it.” “I’m a passionate person and I’m deeply touched by colours and reflections. I don’t paint from memory since I have to “work my talent” a bit. From photographs, I can really feel the movement, the emotion and the reflections. As an artist, I’m always learning and that’s why I don’t limit myself to one subject or genre.” “Visitors will find animals, landscapes, beautiful characters and musical instru- ments that offer a true diversity in the paintings,” concludes the artist. “Life is made of many things and ways, and so is my exhibit.” The exhibit is open until December 9 during business hours at the Faimfino Res- taurant on Des Érables Street in Browns- burg-Chatham.
