Getting to Know You: MIYC's Dedicated and Hard-working Full-time Servers
Kathy Tummarello Kathy was born in Somers Point, New Jersey, where she graduated from High School, also earning a degree as a medical assistant. She has had a significant other for the last 25 years. Her two surviving children (two others are deceased) are named Jac (44) and Britt (31), and also live here in Florida. She has a green thumb, likes to bike ride, and enjoys renovating furniture and make things look new again. Prior to being with us at the Yacht Club, Kathy was a manager at the Castaways Restaurant and Bar in Naples for 14 years. “I enjoy bartending and take pride in making a cocktail to your liking. I also will do my best to add something to a dish to make it pop.” A typical day for Kathy begins with setting up the tables, taking inventory of the bar, ordering what is needed, checking the lunch and dinner reservations, and making sure our members will have all of their favorite items available. Kathy has two little grandchildren, Leo and Aryia (“The loves of my life!”), and enjoys the time she can spend with them. She also likes to go back home to be with her parents. Her favorites? Rock and Roll for music, White Christmas and Pretty Woman for movies, Monopoly, Poker, and a good night out with a few vodkas rounds out the list. Her community focus areas include St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Humane Society, and animal control. Her bucket list is short: a ride on a Gondola in Venice! Her goal for next year: “Get all of the repairs done in my house.” And her motto? “Enjoy life because you never know what can happen.”
