Session : Community Healing, Recovery, and Belonging Rima Nashashibi, Kamola Mir, Aloha Ley, Dr. Dawn Celeste McGregor Sustainable mental health requires more than access to treatment. It depends on the environments in which people live, work, relate, and belong—environments that foster safety, dignity, agency, connection, and meaningful participation. This interdisciplinary panel brings together perspectives from maternal and women’s health, psychology, gender-based violence prevention, organizational leadership, and community advocacy to explore the interconnected conditions that support healing, recovery, and human flourishing. The panel examines how women’s health, safety, agency, and belonging shape the wellbeing of families and communities, while considering how organizations and social systems can create stronger networks of trust and support. Moving beyond individual approaches to mental health, the discussion offers a whole-systems perspective on community flourishing, asking how we can create conditions in which women and communities can heal, thrive, and participate fully in their own lives.
