“We were keen to take our characters to the big screen and so began production on Kiri and Lou Go Raaa! – a film that has allowed us to push our creative and technical limits. I’m very proud of what we have achieved – it really does look and sound spectacular. It has premiered at the biggest animation festival in the world, and will premiere locally at the New Zealand International Film Festival in Christchurch.” Alongside his animation career, Antony is a freelance illustrator, with a planned “picture book for younger kids blowing out into a chapter book for readers aged eight to 12”. Written by Antony, The Strange and Unlikely Tale of Montgomery, the Mysterious Bird of Mystery
is an “absurd comic adventure story,” that also captures the “whimsical and tender relationship between a boy and his grandfather”. Reflecting on his career, Antony is “grateful to have been able to work for so long in this creative field, which is still fun, interesting, and challenging”. “It’s allowed my family and me to live in different parts of the world and to know great people from far and wide. And I feel very fortunate that I’ve been able to bring a bit of the industry back home to Christchurch, which is the best place for us to be.”
