Swansea University 2024 Postgraduate Prospectus

PhD in Chemistry ReD Group / Sêr SAM

Swansea University has provided for me the opportunity to pursue world-leading research whilst also exploring some of Wales's most beautiful countryside. The facilities within both the Singleton and the Bay campus have been wonderful for supporting my research, and I am excited for the work I will be able to continue throughout the rest of my PhD. With Chemistry being a relatively young Department at Swansea, it has been exciting to feel part of a community of researchers who are all striving to make a difference and add to their respective fields. As a newly starting PhD student, Swansea’s strong basis in collaborative research

This collaborative spirit is not only within the department but across the faculties, with my own research spreading to the Sêr SAM groups in Physics and SPECIFIC within the department of Engineering – all who have been incredibly welcoming and have made my time at Swansea so enjoyable and rewarding. I feel it is this entire research environment that has helped me throughout my PhD. With their support, I was selected as a finalist in the STEM for Britain 2022 Awards. I had the opportunity to present my research at Parliament to politicians and explain the impact of the work which we carry out at Swansea University. It was an honour to receive as a part of this the Bronze Award in Chemistry, as well as First Place in the Dyson Award for Research towards a more Sustainable Future.

really shone through, and I have felt very supported in being taught on new facilities or research disciplines.
