Two Celebrations = Twice the Fun In 2022! S UNTORY FLOWERS is celebrating two milestone anniversaries – 20 years as an official company within Suntory Holdings and 20 years of revolutionary Sun Parasol mandevillas! Surfinia petunias debuted in 1989, followed by more revolutionary vegetative annuals – Million Bells calibrachoas, Temari and Tapien verbenas and Summer Wave torenias. These were among the first Proven Winners. The next wave of breeding innovations came from Bonza Botanicals, a joint venture with Oasis Horticulture in Australia that is now part of Suntory Flowers. These delights from down under include Surdiva scaevolas, Princettia euphorbias, Granvia bracteanthas and Madeira argyranthemums Grandaisy hybrids. Meanwhile, two more major series were being bred in Japan – Senetti pericallis and Soiree Kawaii catharanthus. Another exciting category is disease-resistant shrub roses through third-party breeding. CHECK US OUT ON YOUTUBE! And subscribe to our channel for our latest videos. Giving Back Moving forward, Suntory Flowers is investing in our industry by establishing a scholarship through American Floral Endowment. The Suntory Flowers “Dream Big!” Scholarship inspires innovation and encourages students to explore the possibilities available to them in floriculture and ornamental horticulture. Suntory’s guiding philosophy and passion is “Yatte Minahare” – the spirt of bold ambition to dream big, take challenges and never give up. In other words, “Go for it!” Let’s inspire the next generation to dream big!
