HUMAN RESOURCES SUMMARY OF SERVICES

Human Resources is responsible for cultivating positive working relationships to attract, develop, and retain a talented and diverse workforce. The HR team maintains a comprehensive citywide classification and compensation system, uses creative recruitment and selection techniques to hire qualified employees, and delivers customized organizational development and training services to ensure staff are well equipped to anticipate and respond to the changing needs of city residents, visitors, and businesses. HR is also responsible for the city’s HR Information System, managing a competitive benefits and wellness program, resolving labor and employee relations matters and disputes, and administering a comprehensive risk management program designed to protect City assets and resources from loss, and proactive prevention programs, including employee safety trainings, to help ensure the safety of all employees. Accomplishments  Awarded Top Workplaces honor by the Orange County Register for two years in a row in 2021, 2022, and Awarded Top Workplaces honor for USA in 2023.  Reboot of the Supervisor Academy, a five-day immersion experience to develop and grow employees’ leadership skills, network with colleagues, and bring the One Irvine value system in a classroom setting.  Launch of Next Level Leadership program, a three-day program designed to help leaders engage others and positively contribute to building a thriving organizational culture.  Offered a series of employee appreciation events celebrating the One Irvine Model for one Irvine team including an appreciation breakfast (300 employees attended), appreciation lunch (410 employees attended), and sweet treats delivered to 25 community centers and facilities.  Evaluated over 25,000 job applications resulting in over 1,200 full-time and part-time new hires and filling 22 executive positions.

 Successfully hired 52 new police officers.
