ATHLETICS SUMMARY OF SERVICES

The Athletics section offers the Irvine community a comprehensive youth and adult tennis program, adult sports leagues, athletic reservations for sports fields and courts, and access to Irvine Unified School District sports facilities under joint use agreements. Our sports parks local and major tournaments and events, including the Amer ican Softball Association’s Champions Cup and Premier Girls Fast Pitch National Championships. Athletics also manages the Park Ambassador Program, Harvard Skate Park, Central Bark Dog Park, and provides staff support to the Irvine Sports Committee. Major Tournaments: Hosted 38 tournaments, including the Irvine Pony Memorial Day baseball event with 200 teams from California and Mexico playing over 400 games on a single weekend.  Key Policy Updates: Updated the Allocation Procedure for Sports Facilities to provide continued equitable community access to athletic fields and facilities.  Tennis & Pickleball Program Growth: Since FY 2020-21, tennis and pickleball registrations have increased by 21 percent due to new pickleball courts and increased demand for tennis lessons.
