EDUCATION SUPPORT
Education is an important Irvine community value and the City proudly provides significant direct and indirect support to Irvine schools in Irvine and Tustin Unified School Districts. The Biennial Budget includes $4 million annually in direct school support funding (as shown in transfers- out). Irvine’s Public Safety and Community Services Departments also provide indirect program support including school resource officers, drug prevention programs, safety education, crossing guards, on-campus programs, and joint use agreements. The FY 2023-24 budget dedicates approximately $10.7 million to support Irvine schools. $4 million in direct cash funding and $6.7 million in indirect support. In FY 2024-25, the total increases to $10.8 million in direct and indirect support. The City’s commitment to education is detailed in the following tables for the Two-Year Budget.
