SPECIAL FUNDS
Fund 143: PUBLIC SAFETY GRANTS FUND This fund was established to account for federal, state and local grants and donations assigned for Public Safety activities. Previously awarded multi-year or continuous grants and federal funds such as the Emergency Management Performance Grant, Justice Assistance Grants, California Assembly Bill 109 grant, and Office of Traffic Safety grants will be expended in FY 2023-24 and 2024-25 for various public safety programs, officer training, equipment, and supplies. The Maruchan donations received in previous fiscal years were not completely expended; the remaining amount of the donation is expected to be spent on supplies and equipment purchases, and equipment services. Federal funds from the National Opioid Settlement are expected to be received for the next 15-18 years, and their use is restricted to the abatement of the opioid epidemic.
