Concrete Protection Unleashed

Titan was thrilled to be chosen for a groundbreaking sanitary sewer rehabilitation project in Ontario set to transform wastewater infrastructure.

Unparalleled in scope, it is the largest application of concrete protection liner technology in North America involving a tunnel measuring 94" (2,400mm) in diameter and spanning just over 3.7mi (6km), with a total of six drop chamber structures, some as deep at 147ft. (45m) at 73,194ft² (6,800m²). The project epitomizes Titan's dedication to pushing the boundaries of concrete protection technology, setting a new standard for innovation and excellence in the wastewater industry. Props to our Safety & Operations Department on their dedication and commitment to stringent safety requirements for this projects. The video below shows a 16ft. x 16ft. (5m x 5m) chamber wall section lined with concrete protective liner (CPL) being placed at the base of a chamber. These wall sections are placed one at a time to be welded together and cast into the concrete forming a tunnel structure. Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials for wastewater infrastructure. However, it is subject to deterioration and damage, including corrosion, abrasion, and chemical exposure, compromising its structural integrity, reducing service life, and increasing maintenance costs.

CPL is a thermoplastic liner with studs or anchors on one side that lock into applied surfaces to effectively line concrete structures. It works to protect concrete against corrosion, leakage, infiltration and inflow.
