JOIN OUR GED® CLASSES

This program prepares adult learners to pass the four-part, computer-based GED ® exam to earn a State of Connecticut diploma. When you register for classes, a placement test will be administered. Based on the results, you will be assigned to an appropriate instructional level. A student must earn a score of 236 or higher on our placement test to be placed in GED ® classes. CLASSES To register for GED ® preparation classes students must be at least 17 years old, officially withdrawn from school, and must submit a withdrawal form with a parent or guardian’s signature if required. ADULT BASIC EDUCATION Students 17 years of age and over who want to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, and math, or if you need to brush up for job training or employment skills, ABE is for you. Often adults seeking job advancement, a new training or a high school diploma will start with ABE for basic skills as a first step. DAYTIME CLASSES EVENING CLASSES Classes Meet: Individuals with a documented disability who require accommodations to take the official GED ® exam should contact the Stamford Adult Education School Counselor at (203) 977-8824, the CT State Department of Education GED ® Office at (860) 807-2111, or email ged@ct.gov. DAYTIME CLASSES OLD TOWN HALL 175 Atlantic St., Stamford Classes meet: Monday, through Thursday Beginning January 18th 8:30am - 10:30am Please call (203) 977-4941 EVENING CLASSES To take the official GED ® exam, students must meet Connecticut State testing requirements as follows: students age 17 must be withdrawn from school for at least six months to be eligible to take the exam and submit official withdrawal forms; students age 18 may be required to provide an option to withdraw form signed by a school official; pass at least one of the GED Ready tests with a score of 150 or greater at www.ged.com; provide a valid government issued identification; provide proof of Connecticut address; and pay the $13.00 exam fee if 21 years of age and older. Ages 17-20 do not pay an exam fee. The minimum age for enrollment at Stamford Adult & Continuing Education is 17 years of age with guardian permission, along with official withdrawal documentation.
