004 ART OF THE CINEMA: ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT By combining a text on film appreciation, and viewing films from the birth of motion pictures to present day, you will follow the growth of the aesthetic value within filmmaking in order to make the experience more than just “going to the movies.” We will begin with the silent era and end with a film produced within the last 5-10 years of the same genre. Petrilli is a director/actor for stage and screen, is an asso- ciate member of Writers Guild of America east, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He has coached Acting for the Camera and The Art of Dramatic Writing at Weist Barron Studio of Acting, the Ted Bardy Studios, the Shetler Studios, and John Robert Powers in NYC, and also at Western Connecticut State University. 005 ACTING FOR THE CAMERA This weekly class introduces the basic skills and techniques required when acting for the camera. It also aims to increase your confidence and understanding of how to emote, gesture, as well as analyze and deliver text for the camera. We will cover the steps from screenplay to production, including a class-produced short film at the end of the session. Edwin Escobar Thurs., Feb. 15 6:00-8:00PM In-Person at Rippowam 10 sessions $129 Edwin Escobar is a self taught director and cinematographer based in CT. He has been offering video production services to developing artists of all mediums and small businesses for the last 14 years. Edwin has worked in over a dozen short films, including four original award winning projects. 007 IN THE MIRROR ACTING CLASS Class Mantra- We will use the connection of breath, movement, and critical self awareness. You will learn a genuine path to character development and embodiment. Get ready to unapologetically express your “right now feelings,” through monologue, dialogue and table talk. 001 PAINTING IN OILS AND ACRYLIC R This course is for beginning and more advanced students. Beginners will learn how to mix colors and basic color theory including value, color temperature, and complimentary color mixing. More advanced students will work on paintings of their own choice. 002 BEGINNING WATERCOLOR R This class is for the beginning art student who wants to learn the fundamentals of painting using watercolor as a medium. The principles of color theory and composition will be examined, and there will be a demonstration at the beginning of every class. A list of supplies will be sent to registrants prior to the start of the class. Rosa E. Students will learn how to use other materials like canvas and wood panels to work with watercolors, and learn how to seal your watercolor project. Rosa E. Colon Weds., Feb. 14 6:00-8:00PM In-Person at Rippowam 10 sessions $144 Rosa Colon graduated from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Colombia as an Interior Decorator and studied Architectural Expression at the National University of Colombia. She studied under the direction of master artist Enzo Russo in the U.S., and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in CT and NY. She is a member of the board of the Stamford Art Association and a member of the Loft Artists Association.
