Averitt has been at the forefront of sustainable transportation initiatives for decades. In 2004, when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established SmartWay – a program designed to reduce transportation-related emissions and improve supply chain efficiency –
we were proud to be a founding partner. As one of only 52 original members, we committed to meeting specific environmental and energy-saving goals while transparently reporting our progress annually to the EPA. Through our ongoing participation in SmartWay, we have established a systematic approach to reducing emissions and conserving fuel across our operations. Since 2004, Averitt has reduced carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 37.4% and decreased nitrogen oxide emissions by 65.2% per mile. Our enduring SmartWay partnership demonstrates our steadfast dedication to seeking out and implementing eco-friendly logistics solutions that minimize our environmental impact.
