• Materials Modelling and Manufacturing EngD FT

RESEARCH PROJECTS: The current EPSRC ‘Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Functional Industrial Coatings’ supports a range of industrially focused EngD projects, from substrate development and sustainable coating formulations through to corrosion performance and end of life. The scheme has well founded links with multinational companies including Tata Steel UK, Rolls-Royce, BASF, SPTS, NSG Pilkington, Beckers Industrial Coatings and NSG Group. ‘Research Engineers’ are primarily based within the Faculty's ‘Materials and Manufacturing Academy’ and supported by both academic and industrial supervisors. The Faculty has a vibrant research environment and there is opportunity to work with robust research groups including: SPECIFIC; the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating; Corrosion and Coatings; and Semiconductors.

WHY SWANSEA? • Swansea has an established reputation for the Engineering Doctorate research programme, having run the scheme since its inception by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) in 1992. • The 4-year programme combines an industry focused research project, defined and sponsored by an industrial partner, alongside technical, research and professional skills-based modules aimed to enhance a ‘Research Engineers’ employability. FUNDING All positions come with a generous bursary/stipend of £20,000 and tuition fees are paid at the UK rate, both for a period of four years, subject to meeting eligibility requirements.
