On the trail! Track the Gruffalo.
WYRE FOREST Last week EYFS went on an exciting Gruffalo trail to the Wyre Forest. From stomping like a Gruffalo to twit- twooing like an owl, the children thoroughly enjoyed the adventures that lay ahead of them. Children were greeted by their first clue of many, and had to work in groups to solve each one. The children looked for different leaves; felt the bark of the trees to see if it was ‘smooth like the snake’, or ‘rough like the Gruffalo’s back’. This interactive and engaging trail has linked brilliantly with our ‘Talk for Writing’, as they children broadened their vocabulary on this topic. Once the trail finished, the children were greeted by the Gruffalo! Everyone was excited and eager to take a picture with him. The children then explored the rest of the forest - walking along logs and jumping off until they met the Gruffalo’s child. The children then had an opportunity to create their own creature on their own, or with a partner. TEMPUS FUGIT Hannah had been wondering if we would be in the same house when she was older and asked if she could bury a time capsule in the garden to be dug up when she is 25. So at the weekend, we filled a tin with things like some notes to Hannah from the family, a note from Mrs Abercrombie, some photos, a shopping receipt, the front page of the newspaper and some other little bits and pieces like a penny and, a soon to be banned, plastic straw. Hannah really enjoyed digging the hole and gathering all the contents and she's already really excited about digging up things from the past. The challenge now is to stop Hannah from trying to dig it up before she grows up! Thanks to Mrs Bhatoe for the story.
