EVENTS, TOURISM & HOSPITALITY The events, tourism and hospitality industry is an area with a lot of different job roles and opportunities. You can work anywhere in the world in a variety of settings including travel agencies, airports, hotels, holiday resorts and visitor attractions such as theme parks, zoos, and stately homes. In terms of events, you could be organising small scale fundraisers, parties in the park, festivals, or weddings. Both sectors are customer facing so you’ll need to be good with people and have great communication skills. At Preston College you will have opportunities to go on various trips and work experience placements and hear from guest speakers working in the industry. These enrichment and extra-curricular activities are built into your timetable to enhance university applications and CVs. Students learn in dedicated Travel and Tourism classrooms and have access to specialist resources, including aircraft seating and cabin crew equipment such as life jackets. These facilities help bring the industry to life and provide an insight into careers within the aviation sector.
