SPine Specialists
Injury and degeneration of the spine are the most common cause of back pain and most
people will experience it at some time during their life. This pain can become chronic and may severely impede a patient’s ability to be active or even function through daily tasks. Fortunately for most, limiting activity, physical therapy and rest and medication are all that is required for relief. In cases that call for surgical treatment, we provide the highest level of care for problems of the spine. Non-operative solutions are always the first course of action, but for patients who are not experiencing relief from those therapies, surgical solutions are available from our spinal specialists. Specific diagnosis and individual treatment plans are provided for each patient. Our spine specialists work in conjunction with referring providers as well as rehabilitation professionals to provide continuity of care and complete, comprehensive treatment for patients before, during and after their surgical procedures. Our goal is to help patients regain mobility as well as function, and to help them return to the activities they love as quickly as possible.

upper Extremity Specialists Shoulder problems can affect us at any stage of our lives. Conditions range from instability such as dislocations, rotator cuff pathology including impingement and rotator cuff tears, and degenerative problems such as shoulder specialists offer thorough knowledge and experience to restore shoulder and elbow function.
When the hand is affected by injury or disease, a person’s quality of life can be significantly compromised. Given that our hands are in constant motion – reaching, grasping, carrying and releasing – they are regularly exposed to a number of dangers. They are also susceptible to over-use injuries, such as tendonitis and carpel tunnel syndrome. Whether hand problems results from trauma associated with new injuries, complications of old injuries, arthritic conditions, nerve compression disorders, or abnormal growths, you can depend on our hand and wrist specialists to treat these conditions with expertise and care.
arthritis. Treatment options include non- operative therapies including injections, as well as surgical options such as arthroscopy and open stabilizations, rotator cuff repairs, and total shoulder arthroplasty or shoulder replacement. Amazing flexibility makes our shoulders so versatile and yet so unstable. The elbow is a complex joint that coordinates the movement of the three large bones of the upper extremity. When these vulnerable joints are injured, our lifestyle suffers. From the repair of rotator cuff injuries, or total shoulder replacement surgery, to elbow reconstruction, our upper extremity

hip & knee Specialists
The hip joint is one of the largest joints in the human body and connects our trunk to our lower limb. Without it we cannot walk, run, or perform any number of sporting activities. Anyone with hip pain knows that it’s almost impossible to escape the pain because it hurts in almost every position from standing to sitting. Most hip problems stem from an issue with one of the structures of the hip, either due to a trauma, a developmental or congenital abnormality, or chronic overuse. Arthritis is the loss of cartilage in the joint which can be either global or focal. The labrum can tear and produce pain and mechanical symptoms such as popping and clicking. The hip can become frankly unstable from a significant trauma, or more subtly unstable from a combination of a developmental or congenital issue, which can be exacerbated by overuse. Finally, the bones, like all bones in the body, can break, or fracture. The knee is the largest joint in the human body and somewhat disproportionately results in orthopedic conditions. Common knee conditions include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, cartilage and meniscus injuries, patella (knee cap) dislocations, and arthritis. Treatment for these problems can be non-operative with bracing, physical therapy and injections or surgical with ACL reconstruction, knee arthroscopy (scopes), cartilage restoration, patella stabilizations and full and partial knee replacement (unicompartmental arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty).

MINIMALLY INVASIVE REGENERATIVE CELLULAR THERAPY
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) Are you looking for a less-invasive or non-surgical solution to your joint pain? If you’ve suffered with osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, patellar tendinitis or if you’ve suffered a muscle, tendon, or ligament injury, PRP can potentially accelerate healing and preserve tissue integrity while improving joint function. PRP may also be utilized during surgery to promote natural healing mechanisms rather than solely relying on medications or chemicals. HOW THE PROCESS WORKS: A small amount of the patient’s own blood is collected and spun to concentrate their own platelets. These platelets contain various growth and healing factors including PDGF, VEGF, TFG- B, all of which are integral to the healing process. They also contain anti-inflammatory molecules that may help decrease joint pain. The procedure can be performed in office or at the time of surgery. A sample of the patient’s blood is collected and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. Our system (Emcyte) achieves 6-9x concentration above baseline platelet levels, delivering over billions of platelets per milliliter of blood. This is among the highest of all PRP systems available. The harvested platelets are then injected into the affected area to increase the concentration of specific bio proteins or hormones, called growth factors, to accelerate the healing process. For tendon injuries, white blood cells and platelets can be concentrated to promote healing.
20
ADIPOSE DERIVED REGENERATIVE CELL TRANSFER (LIPOGEMS) Are you looking for treatment for your osteoarthritis, have a focal area of cartilage loss that you’d like to treat? As the only FDA approved adipose (fat) processing system, Lipogems, uses a small amount of the patient’s own tissue and isolates the regenerative cells. These cells are essential for the regulation of blood flow and assist in the stability within biological systems. They mature into cells that regenerate and repair cartilage, tendon, bone and ligaments. Those collected cells are processed using a sterile solution to wash away any impurities and injected into areas of concern to help facilitate the healing process of damaged or injured tissue. HOW THE PROCESS WORKS: This procedure can be performed in the office or at the time of surgery. Liposuction with a specialized syringe, under local anesthesia, is performed from the abdomen or flank to harvest the patient’s own fatty tissue. The tissue is processed, washed, and concentrated to package the cells and tissue into a usable smaller cluster called MicroFat. The MicroFat is reinjected into damaged or injured tissue in the joint or the surgical repair site. In addition to delivering these reparative cells, the tissue is also strongly anti-inflammatory and can improve postoperative range of motion and decrease pain.

ADVANCED ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY FOR SHOULDER, HIP & KNEE ORTHOBIOLOGIC REGENERATIVE CELLULAR TREATMENTS INCLUDING PRP, ADIPOSE & BONE MARROW TISSUE SPECIALIZES IN Brandon Beamer, M.D.
Dr. Brandon Beamer is a board certified, fellowship trained, orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, advanced arthroscopic techniques, and shoulder reconstruction. He strives to return patients to their healthy and active lifestyle with the least invasive, quickest recovery possible. Dr. Beamer’s practice with Bridger Orthopedic and Sports Medicine focuses on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee. Dr. Beamer also has extensive training and experience with leading edge regenerative technologies (Orthobiologics), which include platelet rich plasma (PRP) and regenerative cell procedures from adipose and bone marrow tissues. These technologies harness the body’s own healing potential and amplifies it to either avoid surgery altogether or enhance the healing and recovery of surgery if indicated. Dr. Beamer utilizes all of his tools, many of which are new to our area, to assure the best possible outcome. Medicine and Montana have always been beckoning Dr. Beamer. Born in Havre, Montana and later moving to Northern California, he wrote in a report in the 3rd grade that he wanted to be a physician and go to Harvard. He achieved both of those early goals. Growing up, he participated in athletics and spent time outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing, skiing, and dirt bike riding. He ultimately decided orthopedic surgery was his calling after shadowing an orthopedic surgeon in college who had just operated on his father. What impressed Dr. Beamer was the fact that complex surgeries could be completed with advanced instruments through tiny incisions. Furthermore, the patients they saw in clinic were doing incredibly well and it made him realize that saving lifestyles was very impactful. Besides being an excellent technician in the operating room, Dr. Beamer is an incredibly caring individual. A big contributing factor to this was growing up with, and looking after, his younger sister with Down Syndrome. He took that drive to look after those who are faced with disabilities on the road in college participating in a charity cycling trip 4000 miles across the United States raising awareness and funds for programs benefiting children with disabilities.
Entering college at UC Berkeley, he was excited to be a part of their world-renowned Biology program, ranked in the top 5% in the United States. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology and graduated with honors in 2005. He attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and completed his Doctor of Medicine with honors in research. His time at Cornell was spent training with- and conducting award winning research with some of the country’s most elite surgeons at the Hospital for Special Surgery, which is the top ranked orthopedic hospital in the US. Dr. Beamer then went on to complete his orthopedic residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program, in Boston, Massachusetts, and operated at the nation’s top hospitals including Massachusetts General and Boston Children’s Hospital. After nine years on the east coast, it was time for Dr. Beamer to head back west. For his fellowship training Dr. Beamer chose the Stanford Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in Palo Alto, California. This fellowship program is one of the most highly sought-after sports medicine programs in the country. While at Stanford, Dr. Beamer had the opportunity to work with collegiate and professional athletes including the Stanford University athletics and the San Francisco 49ers. Dr. Beamer was chosen amongst his fellowship class as the sole fellow to serve as assistant team physician for the 49ers, joining the team on the sidelines and helping run the training room at the training facility. Following his education and training Dr. Beamer practiced in Northern California but always longed for a journey back to his birthplace. He is thrilled to be moving back to Montana and will be performing arthroscopic (minimally invasive) surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee for both adult and pediatric patients. Dr. Beamer is also highly versed in complex shoulder reconstruction and replacement

SPECIALIZES IN Emily Compton, M.D .
CARPAL & CUBITAL TUNNEL HAND & WRIST ARTHRITIS LIGAMENT INJURY & FRACTURE DUPUYTREN’S CONTRACTURE GANGLION CYSTS TENDON & NERVE REPAIR
Dr. Emily Compton is a board-eligible Upper Extremity Orthopedic Surgeon with subspecialty and fellowship training in Surgery of the Hand. She chose this specialty because hand function is vital to everyday life and she feels it is her mission to help restore or improve this function, whenever possible, for the people in her community. In addition to general hand surgery, she performs small joint arthroscopy, microsurgery, arthroplasty of the hand and elbow, as well as orthopedic trauma care. Her passion and the guiding principle of her practice is to help her patients achieve the best possible outcome – whether that is through surgical intervention or by recommending non-operative treatments. The end goal is for every patient to eventually leave her office better able to complete everyday tasks, succeed in their professions, and return to the activities they enjoy. Raised in southwest Michigan, Dr. Compton learned the importance of
hard work and discipline while being surrounded and supported by a loving family and tight-knit community. Her mother was a beloved OB/GYN in her small community with an infectious love of medicine and a “work-hard- play-hard” attitude. She spent summers in Montana with family and she fell in love with the area. After high school, Dr. Compton attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI, where she participated in collegiate soccer and basketball. She graduated summa cum laude with honors and a B.S. in Biology. She attended medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Southern California, where her mother and paternal grandfather had also attended. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Compton completed a 5-year orthopedic surgery residency at Spectrum Health/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, MI. Her residency mentors emphasized the fact that surgery is not a magical fix for every
problem. A key part of a surgeon’s responsibility is to recognize the limitations and risks of surgery and to help patients make informed treatment decisions accordingly— a philosophy that defines Dr. Compton’s practice. Following residency, her specialized training continued at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/Andrews Sports Medicine Institute Hand Surgery Fellowship program. Having been an orthopedic surgical patient numerous times, she recognizes the immense trust that patients must place in their surgeons, and appreciates the distinct privilege she has to care for her patients. Together with her husband, Dr. Compton is absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to raise their two children in Montana — close to family and the mountain trails. She continues to be active with cross-country skiing, snowboarding, backpacking, mountain biking, and scuba diving. At home, she enjoys audiobooks — and the challenges of parenting, woodworking, gardening, and mushroom cultivation.
