Alex LeGrand, M.D .
A native of Australia, Dr. Alex LeGrand grew up near Melbourne and moved to the US to obtain his education at North Carolina State University, in Raleigh, graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He attended the Duke University School of Medicine, continued with an Orthopaedic Surgical Internship and completed his Orthopaedic Residency at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina. He completed a Sports Medicine Knee and Shoulder Surgery Fellowship under the guidance of program director Dr. Robert T. Burks at the University of Utah, one of three sports medicine surgeons in North America selected by the American Society for Sports Medicine to visit sports medicine facilities and surgeons in Europe in an exchange of ideas and approaches. Dr. LeGrand moved to Bozeman and joined Bridger Orthopedics in 2007 and has been active with athletes at all skill levels and ages as a Sports Medicine Specialist, purposefully acting to advance the science of exercise. He and his team work with athletes to diagnose, treat and prevent sports related injuries, exhausting all non-surgical treatment options available. With cases that require surgical intervention to help athletes return to competitive status or with patients wanting to regain the ability to participate in the activities they love; he is an enormously competent and qualified surgeon who completes an average of 450-500 surgical cases annually. He has been involved as a team physician, providing sideline medical expertise for athletes ranging from rodeo participants to football players at a high school level and on both home and opposing team’s fields, as a traveling team physician for collegiate athletes. He formerly held the title of Director, Sports Medicine with Montana State University and serves as an orthopedic consultant for MSU athletic teams. He is also currently a US Ski Team Physician. He specializes in Knee ACL Reconstruction, Knee Arthroscopy and Shoulder Arthroscopy as well as treating traumatic sports related injuries. Dr. LeGrand works diligently to help his patients solve complex issues with persistence and patience. Willing to work in concert with other providers, he is a sensitive physician, attentive to details and is truly invested in his patients while supporting them with their activity and lifestyle goals.
