Aaron Florence, D.O., FAOAO

Dr. Aaron Florence, DO, FAOAO, is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist, providing care for patients in Dillon, Montana, in partnership with Barrett Hospital & Healthcare. Dr. Florence delivers world-class orthopedic care to patients in Dillon and the surrounding communities, including joint replacement, sports injuries, trauma care, fracture management, and conducting arthroscopic procedures to help patients regain function so they can return to the activities they love. He believes in exhausting all conservative treatment options available and relies on surgical intervention only when necessary. His goal is to help patients return to the activities they love with strength, confidence, and long-term success. Dr. Florence takes great pride in incorporating advanced techniques and the latest innovations across all areas of his surgical practice, ensuring that each patient receives the most current, effective, and individualized orthopedic care. When performing joint replacement surgery his commitment to precision and innovation allows him to utilize high-performance implants for both total knee and total hip, designed to restore natural joint mechanics, reduce pain, and support long-term durability. In ACL reconstruction, he tailors graft selection to each patient’s unique anatomy, activity level, and recovery goals. This allows for a surgical plan that balances durability, healing potential, and long-term function. When appropriate, he utilizes the quadriceps tendon autograft for its strength and low complication profile. He often combines graft reconstruction with internal bracing, a high-strength suture tape that reinforces the ligament during early healing without restricting natural movement. This technique also offers immediate stability, supports faster and safer rehabilitation, and lowers the risk of reinjury, especially in active individuals. For shoulder injuries, he utilizes minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and advanced implant systems to treat a wide range of conditions, including rotator cuff tears, labral injuries, and shoulder

instability. These procedures allow for precise repair of damaged tissues with less disruption to surrounding structures, resulting in less pain and faster recovery. In addition to conservative non-surgical and surgical treatment options, Dr. Florence offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy as a regenerative non-surgical option. PRP concentrates growth factors from a patient’s own cells to promote tissue healing and reduce inflammation. It has shown promising results in the treatment of conditions such as tendinopathies, ligament injuries, and early joint degeneration. This therapy may be an effective way to help patients avoid or delay surgery. Dr. Florence first attended Ricks College (Brigham Young University – Idaho), and then Idaho State University to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine through A.T. Still University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kirksville, Missouri. Training through this program allowed him to provide care to patients within the Genesys Health System in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He chose the Orthopedic Surgery Residence through the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the North Shore-LIJ Health System Peninsula Hospital Consortium in Far Rockaway, New York. This program spans ten major hospitals across New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey, providing exposure to a wide range of patient populations and surgical settings, allowing for an exceptionally robust and diverse training experience working with over 150 orthopedic attending surgeons.
