Child’s garden for verses in works at Russell Library
garden decor will feature comfortable places for little ones to sit and read and the decor will combine a variety of features that highlight Russell village’s heritage and local history. Cost of the project is estimated at $20,000 and the horticultural society is organizing a fundraising program, including a “rain barrel sale” project that will both earn money for the reading garden project and also help promote local environmental awareness and water conservation for gardening. The society is asking the township to look at an in-kind contribution to the reading garden project by providing chain-link security fencing and also help in future with publicizing the rain barrel sale and other fundraising efforts.

RUSSELL | Before spring is even here plans are abloom for a new addition to the new Russell Public Library. Lindley McPhail presented township council with a report from the Russell District Horticultural Society about the group’s plans for “planting” a Children’s Fantasy Reading Garden at the library. “The whole garden is intended to keep a child’s imagination bubbling,” McPhail said. The society is creating a design for a combined outdoor reading and play area for children and their parents or guardians. The
