Gabriel Filion a inscrit le premier but de Rockland en deuxième période, aidé par Patrick Larkin et William Collins, puis Alexandre Fréchette a inscrit le but vainqueur en troisième période sur des passes de Wyatt Kennedy et Giovanni Morneau. Les Nationals de Rockland occupent pré- sentement le quatrième rang de la division Yzerman dans la CCHL, dix points derrière les Grads de Navan et dix points devant les Colts de Cornwall.
Après avoir subi un revers contre les Junior Senators d’Ottawa (4-1) mercredi dernier, les Nationals de Rockland ont connu un weekend parfait, remportant deux victoires consécutives contre les Raiders de Nepean (4-1) et les Lumber Kings de Pembroke (2-1). Les Nationals affrontaient la première équipe au classement général de la CCHL mercredi dernier, les Junior Senators d’Ottawa. L’équipe locale a pris une avance de deux buts aux dépens des Nats dès la première période. Massimo Gentile a inscrit le premier but des Sens sur une passe de Julian Recine, puis Vincent Velocci a doublé l’avance des siens sur des passes d’Isaac Landry et de Tomislav Brennan. Les Nats ont répliqué en fin de deuxième période quand William Collins est parvenu à réduire l’écart de moitié en déjouant le gardien des Sens. Yanic Crête et Patrick Larkin ont obtenu des mentions d’aide sur le jeu. Mais Ottawa a rajouté deux autres buts
After losing to the Ottawa Junior Senators on Wednesday (4-1), the Rockland Nationals had a perfect weekend, beating the Nepean Raiders (4-1) and the Pembroke Lumber Kings (2-1). The Nats currently hold the fourth spot in the Martin division of the Central Canada Hockey League, 10 points behin the Navan Grads and 10 points ahead of the Cornwall Colts. The Nats will be looking to improve their record over next week as they will be playing five consecutive home games.

ALFRED-PLANTAGENET OPENS PUBLIC TRAILS

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet has converted Larocque Woods into a free recreational trail for the public. The municipality acquired the forest behind its water tower in 2021, and now it’s open to the public as the municipality’s first multi-use outdoor trail space. Over three kilometres of trails criss-cross the area for various summer and winter activities, inclu- ding hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing. “It is now possible to ski and hike in the forest near Larocque Park,” said Manon Besner, Chair of the Larocque Woods Advi- sory Committee. “For a few months now, an advisory committee has been working on the development of the Larocque Woods. It is with gratitude to the members of this committee, Mr. Dominic Côté, the people who participated in the fall clean-up and the employees of the Parks and Recreation Department of the municipality of Alfred & Plantagenet that it is now possible to enjoy these trails safely as a family. So bundle up and come enjoy the great outdoors at Larocque Woods. Come and play outside this winter.” To celebrate, the Larocque Woods Advi- sory Committee, the Alfred 150 Committee, and the Alfred Optimist Club hosted a Family Day outing on February 21. They led a walk through the woods with hot chocolate and coffee, and the skate shack was open for people to warm up in. In addition, several prize draws were held throughout the day featuring prizes donated by the Optimist Club. “The acquisition of the college forest, now better known as the Larocque Woods, by the municipality is a very important investment to enhance the identity of the residents of the township and their sense of belonging to it,” said Ken St-Denis, parks and recreation director. “It is with passion and pride that the Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the community, plans to develop this prime site over the next five
