In 2026, Century Electrical Wholesale Ltd proudly celebrates a quarter century of serving electrical contractors, businesses and the public with quality products, expert advice and outstanding customer service. Established on September 11, 2001, Century Electrical Wholesale began life in a small unit on Boucher Crescent, Belfast. From these modest beginnings, the company set out with a clear objective: to provide a reliable source of electrical products and solutions for both trade professionals and retail customers. A defining milestone in the company’s development came in 2004, when the Collins family acquired a shareholding of the business. Bringing with them more than 50 years of trading experience, the family provided the vision, leadership and commercial expertise needed to
guide the company’s expansion and long- term success. Over the past 25 years, Century - as a subsidiary of the National Electrical Wholesale Group - has grown steadily through investment in its people, branches, product offering and supplier partnerships. What began as a single location for CEW has evolved into an extensive network of nine branches in the north of Ireland, 14 NEW branches throughout the south of Ireland, and one branch in the UK trading under NEW Electrical Distributors. As a subsidiary, Century Electrical Wholesale Ltd is proud to be recognised as part the largest privately-owned electrical wholesaler in Ireland. This achievement reflects the dedication of its employees, the loyalty of its customers and the strength of its relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout the industry.
The business is led by an experienced senior management team comprising founder and Managing Director Colin Donnelly, with Ross Hutchinson and Gerard O’Hagan as directors. Together, they continue to build on the company’s strong foundations, driving innovation, operational excellence and customer- focused growth across all areas of the business. As the electrical industry has evolved through advances in energy efficiency, renewable technologies, lighting solutions and smart building systems, Century has remained committed to ensuring customers have access to the very latest products and technical expertise.
