Crest Ink - Volume 27 - Number 04

Finally, like Line 24, Mixer 7 is capable of providing us with statistical information that can be used to not only record production events but also give is key indicators for preventative maintenance planning. We’ve got some things to do before we can use this new capability so look for more on this at a later date. Our experience with the new mixer was so positive that we have already purchased the upgraded scale indicators for the remaining 6 blenders as well an even better version of the rotary discharge valve where we can open the valve to any position between fully closed and fully open to give us even greater accuracy over the amount of prod- uct discharged during a dump. Articles in future issues of Crest Ink will outline more of the exciting things that we are doing to keep Crest on the crest of the wave. CIP 2015 4th Quarter Winners The Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) is a program where employees may submit suggestions on ways that they think can improve Crest Foods. These suggestions may help improve overall efficiency, employee safety, sanitation, record keeping, maintenance and various other areas around Crest Foods. In exchange for their sugges- tions, each employee is rewarded with a $5.00 gift certificate to our Crest store. We received 35 suggestions from employees for the 4th quarter. Thank you to everyone for participating!

Wyatt Berogan (Karlin Warehouse A-Shift) 4th Quarter 1st Place • $250

Martha Holder (Production A-Shift) 4th Quarter Runner Up • $150 We need to install a cover on the Kaps All machine on Line #18 that lids feed into. With it covered, when the lids jam up it will be easier to access and fix. At the Karlin Warehouse I think that if we were to switch shipping locations 4013 & X013 we would be able to speed up the loading process. This wouldn’t slow down the receiving process any by moving the unloading area over to the Y025 location plus, you can get two loads of baking soda and cornstarch in one row instead of 2 rows.

Jeff Brecunier (Building Maintenance) 4th Quarter Runner Up • $150

With the Crest trucks being white in color, I suggest putting large reflective decals on the tractors and trailers. This would make them easier to see (hopefully) in the fog and at night. A strobe light might also prove effective. With these improvements maybe another serious accident can be avoided.
