IN WAR-TORN EUROPE the preaching of the Gospel and circulation of God’s Word is being continued. We still have ways of reaching our evangelists in Eu rope and Asia; we also give the Gospel to the Russian multitudes “in their own tongue”, in North and South America. Every gift for the support of Russian, mission- ■ - aries and for relief of Saints-in- need is very welcome and will be used for the utmost good. - Inspiring and encouraging re- * ports of our work in many lands appear in “The Friend of Rus- ), sians,” 50 cents per annum, sam ple copies free. “He gives twice who gives quick ly.” Send your contributions for this service of love among ’the Slavic races tq Col. 1. Out of the Past “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1). You must learn, you must let God teach you, that the only-way to get rid -of your past is to get a future out of it. God will waste nothing. There is something in your past—something, if it be only the sin of which you have repented, which,.if you put it into the Saviour’s hands, will he a ' new life to you.—Phillips Brooks. 2. The Overflowing Heart “ Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord” (Psa. 105:3). , He who lives without prayer, he who lives with little prayer,. he who seldom reads the Word, he who sel dom looks up to heaven for a fresh influence from on high—he will be the man whose heart will become dry and barren. But he who calls in se cret on his God, who spends muci^ time in holy retirement, who delights' to meditate on the words of the Most High, whose soul is given up td Christ —such a man must have an overflewS] ing heart;, and as his heart is, stpj|| .fyill his life be. —Charles Haddon SpUrgeoftJa Grace and Power fsrWhere the Spirit of the Lords* there is liberty” (2 Cor. 3:17)., 1 m j The graces of the Spirit' opghtfj be richly revealed hr our 1-iwsf:| ppwer of the Spirit ought ily. manifested in our privilege of every believer t6 iw man of power in service. GraceIra power are both at our disposal! g& for living like Christ; power jHf’ttflj ing for Him.—R. A. Torrey. 4. The Word Transforms r •Let us ever bear in conscious re membrance our need of His enlight ening gface every time we come to His ho^y Wo r d , and His enabling grace to appropriate, in daily living, all that is implied for faith and life. Then will the light of truth bring with it the light of joy; whatever be the pressure of earthly events and earthly conditions, fear will be turned to joy.—1The Christian. 3. “ Open thou mine dyes, that I m&P* behold wondrous .things out of thy law” (Psa. 119:18); /

A SONG OF FAITH By William M. Runyan Let me sing a song of faith; in patient waiting Let me know that what my Father wills is best; Stilling all my inner chiding and debating. Let me enter into quietness and rest. Let me sing a song of faith I To Thee I'd sing it, 0 Thou Holy One, who doest all things well! Any lurking doubt or fear, , % • to Thee 1 bring it; Wisdom, love, aqd utter patience with Thee dwell. Let me sing a song of faith.
