Graphic Dimensions Acquires Assets of FormsAmerica Graphic Dimensions, Inc. has acquired certain assets of FormsAmerica Corporation in New Albany, Indiana. All order and composition files have been moved to Graphic Dimensions’ Erlanger, Kentucky, facility. Graphic Dimensions is a full-service, trade-only man- ufacturer with facilities in Georgia, Kentucky and New Hampshire. It also operates New Dimension Labels, a wholesale custom digital and flexographic label pro- vider based just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Survey Sheds Light On Plastic Packaging The IK, a trade association representing the interests of manufacturers of plastic packaging and films, has released the results of its survey on the effects of the COVID-19 crisis. Across all segments, 37 percent of the companies stated that they had fewer orders compared to March. A quarter of all companies even reported declines of more than 20 percent. In contrast, a good half of the companies reported an increase in orders in April, al- though mostly in the range of between 10 percent and 20 percent. According to the survey, just under 80 percent of the companies are able to fulfil the orders they received, but around half of the respondents reported corona-re- lated restrictions, mainly in relation to reduced per- sonnel numbers. Here, the main differences between consumer and industrial packaging manufacturers be- come apparent: almost 40 percent of the companies reported a shortage of personnel,while almost 25 per- cent said they had to introduce short-time working. European Carton Excellence Awards Extends Deadline Pro Carton and the European Carton Makers Associa- tions have confirmed that the annual European Carton Excellence Awards’will not be impacted by the coro- navirus outbreak and that the deadline for entries has been extended to June 4, 2020. The competition centers around four main catego- ries with awards for use of virgin fibre and recycled fibre across both Food & Drink Packaging and General Packaging. The “Carton of the Year” award will be of- fered to the overall champion, regardless of category or substrate. Additionally, the judges will choose a wider selec- tion of entrants that they also believe deserve recog- nition as either Platinum or Gold Award winners.
