Ford Focus now available as an electric car FORD FOCUS

Toyota’s completely redone Camry

The all-new Focus, launched last year, is already a success in North America and around the world. In fact, Ford’s new philosophy dictates that most of its products should be the same, no matter where they’re sold around the globe. That said, some differences might show up according to the market where the car is sold. In North America, the Focus is available as a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback with a direct-injection 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that develops some 160 horsepower. A newer sporty model called the ST will soon be available with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The current Focus is sold with a five-speed manual transmission or a very advanced dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission. The biggest news is that the all-electric Focus will

Although it remains very recognizable, Toyota has redesigned its ever-popular Camry for 2012. Among the improvements, there is now better than ever ride quality, better braking, and better fuel economy. Its most popular powertrain remains a very fuel thrifty 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine combined with a six- speed automatic transmission. This front-wheel drive sedan is also available with a refined hybrid combination consisting of a similar four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor that delivers some 200 horsepower. For those more oriented toward performance, the car is also available with a 268 horsepower V-6 engine. The new Camry offers an even roomier cabin with 10 standard airbags as well as optional sound and navigation systems. By the way, it is still possible

The all-new Camry keeps its recognizable silhouette.

Japanese automaker Nissan is definitely not resting on its laurels. As part of its regular restyling program, it was recently the small Versa’s turn to be redone. Consequently, we now have a curvier Versa than ever before. Changes have been brought in on the sedan version of the car, with a revamped hatchback expected soon. It may not appear to the naked eye, but the most recent Versa uses a new platform that increases interior room, making the car slightly bigger than its predecessor. Even the engine was revamped, with the 1.6-litre, four- cylinder powerplant developing a healthy 109 horsepower. While some motorists will choose the five- speed manual transmission, the optional CVT automatic transmission

Japanese car maker Mazda is evolving its manufacturing philosophy, which it now calls SkyActiv. This change is reflected in the company’s new engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, steering mechanisms, and even new structures. The small Mazda3 car does offer one of the new engines and transmissions, but it is the all-new Mazda CX-5 small crossover — accompanying the bigger CX-7 and CX-9 — that will show off the full new approach. The CX-5 also replaces the older Tribute SUV and has a much more modern design.

Weight: 1,066 kg Length: 447 cm Engine: 1.6-l, 109-hp I-4 Transmission: 5M, CVT Seating capacity: 5

The CX-5 uses the base 2.0-litre, in-line four-cylinder engine from the new SkyActiv engineering approach. It also uses one of the two new SkyActiv transmissions, a manual or an automatic, both with six speeds. The CX-5 is available with front- or all-wheel drive. The all-new CX-5 will have to compete against some of the most popular vehicles

(meaning “continuously variable transmission,” a solution adopted by Nissan for most of its vehicles) should deliver even better fuel economy. This small Nissan has some very heavy competition on the market, but we are sure it will rise to the occasion!

The all-new CX-5 exemplifies Mazda’s SkyActiv technology. on the market in one of the most popular segments, that of the compact SUV-CUV which includes players like the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, and Kia Sportage.

The redesigned 2012 Nissan Versa has a lot of room to offer.
