A CURATED SELECTION OF GREAT CARDS

36. 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth (HOF) - PSA FR 1.5

38. 1939 African Tobacco World of Sport #34 Babe Ruth (HOF - Large) - SGC VG/EX 4

Few cards from the gum card era have increased in value with the strength and speed of the four 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards. Even collector-grade examples have grown exponentially in recent years. Presented here is a fine, well- centered specimen that has been tucked away in a private collection for a number of years, finding its way back to the hobby where it was submitted for grading for the first time. The result is a FR 1.5 assessment from PSA, the primary issues being a speck of paper loss near the center of Ruth’s bat, as well

Graded VG/EX 4 by SGC, a rare and under appreciated card of Babe Ruth, an “action” shot from the 1939 African Tobacco “The World Of Sport” Large-Series issue. An extraordinary card of Ruth issued outside the United States, the cards often fly under the radar because they are not considered a mainstream card issue. Despite that fact, the cards are considerably more difficult to find than Ruth’s mainstream cards, yet are typically more affordable. Ruth was the only baseball player

pictured in this 100-card set of athletes, as each sport depicted in the set featured just one player. This mid grade example is well- centered, with some light soiling and corner wear contributing to the technical assessment. Despite this, an outstanding, seldom-seen card of Ruth, more affordable than a card this difficult should be.

as heavily - but evenly - rounded corners. Centering is exceptional for this card, as is the overall eye appeal, the paper loss located in a light-colored area of the card, where it is less distracting. Some mild soiling along the top edge is visible, but also not distracting. Mild wrinkling can also be observed across the center of the card, not breaking the color on the card surface. Accurately graded, but with very strong aesthetic appeal.

39. 1939 Play Ball #26 Joe DiMaggio (HOF) - PSA EX-MT 6

Extremely desirable collector- grade card of Lou Gehrig, from the 1934 Goudey issue. Well- centered, the card does exhibit some light soiling, as well as wear at the corners and edges. Well- worn but still quite attractive, one of two Gehrig cards in the 1934 set and one of the key cards in all 1930s gum issues. 37. 1934 Goudey #61 Lou Gehrig (HOF) - PSA GOOD 2 MINIMUM BID: $1,000

MINIMUM BID: $1,000 DiMaggio, consigned from the collection of its original owner, part of a fresh-to- the-hobby find of 1930s gum cards we will be offering over our next several auctions. Sharp and clean, with a slight centering issue and lightly-touched corners keeping the card from a higher holder. Virtually untouched, one of the key cards to the issue, which is rapidly growing in popularity. Gorgeous 1939
