This year’s event was a brisk Sunday afternoon walk under a cloudy sky from the plaza parking lot up and down Chamberland Boulevard and back. Everyone considers this year’s Walk to Remember a success, not just because of the $6000 that Team Konnekt managed to collect from its community supporters, but also because it proved that not even a pandemic can stop people from doing something to help with the fight to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and other types of crippling neurological conditions. “Connect, don’t correct” is the slogan that guides those who have a family member afflicted with Alzheimer’s Syndrome. It proved the inspiration for the name of Team Konnekt, as Ray Lebeau recalled some of his frustrations with his computer’s auto-spell system and its insistence on “correcting” some of his Canadian spelling. “I thought ‘Konnekt’,” Lebeau said, regarding the inspiration for his family’s Team Konnekt name when they take part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Walk to Remember campaign. “Connect, don’t correct,” he said. “That’s what’s important.” This year’s Walk to Remember event proved a bit more challenging thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The event did take place, though, with about 10 people turning out at the Rockland Plaza parking lot on May 31 for the IG Wealth Management “Physical Distancing” Walk for Alzheimer’s. “It’s about the love we have for people

Tous les élèves de 12e année qui ont rempli les conditions requises pour les cours de cette année obtiendront leur diplôme. Les conseils scolaires prendront les dispositions nécessaires pour que les élèves reçoivent une confirmation à cet effet. Le BSEO est en contact avec tous les conseils scolaires pour examiner et propo- ser des suggestions sur les plans visant à mettre en place un service de remise des diplômes au volant dans chaque école pour que les élèves puissent récupérer leur diplôme et les avis officiels des prix, bourses ou allocations qu’ils pourraient recevoir. Les diplômés et les parents de diplômés seront informés si une remise des diplômes en voiture est prévue, ainsi que des instructions quant à la distanciation sociale pour un tel évènement.

Chaque conseil scolaire tente d’éla- borer un plan pour gérer la remise des diplômes de cette année pour la promotion 2020 pendant la pandémie COVID-19. Le premier ministre Doug Ford a confirmé, lors d’une récente mise à jour sur la situation de la pandémie en Ontario, que toutes les écoles resteront fermées jusqu’à la fin juin. Cela signifie qu’il n’y aura plus de cérémo- nies traditionnelles de remises de diplômes avec les grands rassemblements habituels de familles et d’amis. L’Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) a envoyé une lettre par courriel à tous les élèves diplômés et à leurs parents concernant le projet du district de reporter la cérémonie officielle de remise des diplômes. «Compte tenu des circonstances et des incertitudes de cette pandémie mondiale, et en consultation avec les autorités de santé publique, indique la lettre de l’UCDSB, l’Upper Canada District School Board n’a d’autre choix que de reporter la cérémonie de remise des diplômes de juin 2020 dans toutes nos écoles secondaires et à notre
